Chinese Water Torture...kind of!

So I have been doing the "low-carb" thing for about 6-8 weeks now and I normally don't have a problem with it.  Yes, I have a cheat day but that is just so I can have my Mexican fix.  But other then that I pretty much stick to the meat and veggies plan.  However today when I went to get my lunch I came to realize that I have a Nemesis is in the "low-carb" world and that my friends is Krave Bagel.  This is a new bagel shop in town that makes everything from scratch and the bakery is to die.  Three words..Red Velvet Cupcakes!

Now I went in minding my business to just go get my quart of Chicken Salad for lunch..(it's great there cause they use Helmann's and there is no relish but could use maybe some onion).  Now, as I am waiting to check out it just hit me like a ton of bricks!  The bagels bins, the smell of fresh baked goods and to top it all off the special today...Roast Beer, Horseradish and White Cheddar Panini.  GULP!

I am sure you are thinking that I am nuts, but I have been deprived of these great foods for 8 weeks and  where I grew up bagels were a way of life...bread is a way of life.  We had fresh bagels at school every morning.  Sleepovers, you didn't have pancakes, that mom better have made sure hot bagels were waiting or she was a dead women.  Places like this in the South are so rare that I am glad that North Myrtle Beach has a place just like the Garden State.  But it is still my Nemisis and as long as carbs are my Kryptonite and Krave Bagel will be my Lex Luther!  Thank god for the Chicken Salad!!

XOXO

Miscellany Monday...tired!

I am linking up over at lowercase letters for their miscellany monday.  Today my rant is about being tired and procrastination:

1.  My wonderful dog decided to start puking all over the bed at 5:30 in the morning...enough said

2.  I went to GA this weekend for a wedding and stayed up till 3am two nights in a row...I'm not 21 anymore and I can't drink like I am either

3.  I created my own rapture today but going through my FB friend list and giving people my own little axe..

4. I have to find some motivation to get myself to the gym today...thank god for my new book the Summer and the City

5.  It's only 2 pm...AGH!

First Wedding of the Season!

As I have previously stated, I have a lot of weddings this spring/summer season.  The first one is this Saturday in Athens, GA.  I have never visited Athens and I am really looking forward to it. I can't wait to see the Univ. of Georgia campus and will be stopping by the campus shop to pick me up a little bulldog gear and bring something back for D. who is a DIED HARD Georgia fan.  He can't make the trip with me due to work and is upset that he won't be there for my first "Athens" experience but I promised him & my friend Ashley (another die hard fan) a play by play recap when I return.  GO DAWGS!!

There is nothing I love better then warm weather and some good ole' Southern Tradition. The wedding will take place at the Ashford Manor which is just way too cute!

I can't wait to hang with some old friends from Elon and my Cigar boys.  It is sure to be a great time.  Can't wait to get my dancing shoes on!  Have a great weekend everyone...

XOXO,
Jamie

Jam Packed Weekend

This weekend was whirlwind!  I will just give a quick recap cause my week is hectic and I know I have been missing in action:

Friday:  Finished the final touches on my cigar lounge & had a dinner at Logan's Roadhouse with some old friends that live in CT and NJ.  It was great to catch up and see them and reminisce about our old days of all of us working together at the golf club.  Wish they lived closer but at least they still come to visit.    We then finished dinner with drinks at the new 2nd Avenue Pier.  This place is great and even though it was dark out it was still nice to sit by the ocean with cocktails.  God, I love where I live.

2nd Ave Pier  Open Air Bar

Saturday:  Was a very big and exciting day.  We opened Nick's Cigar Lounge.  Everything went perfectly and I am so relieved to have it up and running.  Still waiting on a couple of photos for the walls and a couple of more tables and then I will post about the finished product.  We have our first event there on Wednesday night so I will post about our Challenge Your Palate event with Ashton Cigars.  Saturday evening was spent down in Murrell's Inlet with my new man D. and my friends Evan and Beth.  We went to get some good low country seafood at Sara J's.  Three of us had the Shrimp and Grits (FAB!) and the other had stuffed shrimp. It was a great dinner and we had the best view!  Since it is Harley Davidson Rally this week we had cocktails and listened to a great rock band at Causeway just down the street...the people watching was pretty FAB! too...

View on the deck!

Sunday:  Thankfully Sunday was just a perfect and relaxing day to get me geared up for this week.  Had a nice breakfast with D. at the barrel  (cracker barrel) and then spent the afternoon by the pool reading my new book Summer in the City by Candace Bushnell.  This book is a must read if you are a fan of hers.  I am obsessed with all things Carrie Bradshaw so I had to get this, I do suggest reading The Carrie Diaries first.

This week is a big one, Monday: RHONJ season premiere!, Wednesday: Challenge Your Palate Event, Friday-Sunday: Wedding in Athens, GA...

Nick's CIgar World & Lounge Part II

So things are crazy in my world professionally.  Not only did I have to hire two new employees at my Superstore location, but we are also opening a Cigar Lounge next door to that location. I made the announcement a while back when we signed our lease.  So I thought I would update you on the construction process and some of the fun decorating I get to do. I am also documenting on our Facebook Fan Page so you can "like" us and check it out there too!

This is the space before hand. It was a hair salon (which someone was living in), then a liquor store and now it will be my cigar lounge.

The walls are all beat up

The ceiling is completely jacked up!
The Bathroom/Shower
Terrible Mirrors
Closet
Now I know what you all are thinking...this place is a DUMP!  And yes it is...

Got the mirrors down

Framing out the Bar

Well we are 5 days out from opening day!  I can't wait to show you the finished product.  Once you see it, I think you will understand why I have been MIA.

Summer Adventures

So this year I am completely swamped with weddings and babies...it's complete overload but in a good way.  I am happy for my friends and as long as they don't get too bridezilla everything will be FAB!  But I am just itching to do something different this summer.

Every year I try to make a summer resolution.  Last year it was to go to the beach more often, since I live there and I think I did very well.  I even had a Beach Field Day for my 31st birthday.  So this summer, I want to play tourist, but in a good way.  No I won't have my fanny pack but I will have my camera.  So I am starting my list of what I want I want to see and do in my area.  I mean is 13 million people can come and do it, why can't I as a local?

1. Go to Alligator Adventure.  I have never been and my whole family went a couple of times when I was a kid.  I have no idea how I got left out.  However, I will be skipping the snake exhibit. But they do have Gators, and Turtles, and Beavers!  Oh My!

2. Visit Bald Head Island, NC.  First of all you get to take ferry over there...WAY COOL!  And I love little villages with great little cafes and shops.  I think it sounds like a great afternoon, especially if I can incorporate a round of golf as well!

3.  I have said this before and it really should be my number #1...Hopsewee House for a plantation tour and and afternoon tea with my girls.  I do not drink hot tea (only the sweet stuff), but there is always a first for everything.

4. The old Dixie Stampede will now be the Pirates Voyage.  I am a sucker for dinner and shows, so I will have to see if the new Pirates are just as good as the Horse Trick Riding.

5.  I want to go to Charleston and check out the Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka factory...The two subjects in that sentence just sounds FAB! let's see...Charleston (check) & Sweet Tea Vodka (check)!
